Based in the New Orleans, Louisiana area, our mission at SouthCoast Kayaks is to introduce you (children & adults) to the exciting world of sea kayaking through teaching and hands-on experience. Our focus is on fun, skill building and development of self-confidence.

As you sit in your boat and glide across the surface of the water, you are eye level with all that you see: the horizon line as the moon breaks free for the night, dolphins frolicking and feeding, magnificent cliffs of ancient stone. There is an intimacy from this vantage point that you will not experience anywhere else. There is no motor, nothing to hem you in. Just a thin barrier between you and the water and you experience the temperament of the water as you paddle or sit quietly at rest.

As Shelly Johnson puts it so well - in sea kayaking, there are no trails or tracks to follow. You decide where you want to go and how fast you want to get there. With a few inches of water to float your boat, you can be on your way. You may paddle a few minutes from shore or enjoy your morning coffee in solitude, or you may click off mile after mile to reach an island destination. You may poke around the backwaters of a salt marsh or bayou, or you may scream down the face of a wave. It's your boat and your choice.
